Administrator: Carol A. Fredericks
The Administration of the City of Atlantic City, under the leadership of Business Administrator Dr. Carol A. Fredericks, is focused upon improving services and increasing efficiencies to save taxpayers money and use resources most effectively in all of the city’s departments. The City of Atlantic City is “Always Turned On,” and “Open for Business.”
Many of our growing community’s needs are being met through the Department of Neighborhood Services under the management of Director Tim Mooney, virtually 24/7. Some examples of these services include providing building inspections after hours and on weekends so that construction schedules can be met, because we understand that time is money. While we meet the needs of our business community, we also support residents by taking action against code violations, particularly those involving citizen health and safety.
The Department of Revenue and Finance’s team under the management of Jack Potts, is top notch, and great care is given to scrupulous purchasing and budget preparation that maximizes value, thus giving our taxpayers the most “bang for the buck.”
Our Planning Division, directed by William Crane, is moving the new Master Plan forward and is currently managing over $15 Million in Construction Projects including new playground equipment, paving, and traffic signal projects to smooth the traffic flow.
Safety is a priority citywide, and we have professionals in the Police Department under Chief John Mooney, the Fire Department under Chief Dennis Brooks, and Emergency Services and Lifeguards under Chief Rod Aluise, managing the safety of over 40 million visitors a year, as well as of our own residents.
The Public Works Department, led by Director Richard Norwood, is modernizing our fleet to better provide services and improve recycling efforts to save on tipping fees.
Our Department of Health and Human headed by Director Ron Cash, addresses quality of life such as senior services and Meals on Wheels, public health clinics, and sanitation inspections, to name but a few.
Dr. Fredericks received a BS degree from West Virginia University, Master in Business with a management focus from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and Doctorate from Fordham University in Manhattan with an emphasis on leadership, administration and policy. She supports teamwork and communication in all areas of our government to best serve our community.
