First Ward

Bruce Ward

Bruce Ward was born and raised in the Stanley Holmes Village in
Atlantic City. He completed his bachelor’s degree in African American
Studies at Rutgers University where he was named Paul Robeson Scholar.
Bruce then taught at Atlantic Cape Community College and later entered
management at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. He continued
graduate studies at New York University, the American University in
Cairo, Egypt and completed his Masters Degree in Public Policy.
In 1992, the recipient of the Daniel Toll Scholarship,
Bruce earned his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School and was
admitted to the New Jersey Bar. More recently, Bruce completed
the Minority Director Development Program of the Kellogg School of
Management, Northwestern University.
Among his legal assignments, Bruce served an internship with Hon.
Stanley S. Brotman, Senior Justice, US District Court, and as clerk to
the Hon. Rosemary Gambardella, Chief Judge of the US Bankruptcy Court,
District of New Jersey. Bruce’s law enforcement background
includes his appointment as Assistant Prosecutor of Cherry Hill
Township.
In the healthcare field, Bruce served as Vice President & General
Counsel of Reliance Health Systems, and was founding Executive Director
of Atlantic Health Initiatives, Inc., where he secured over $1.3
million in grant support to serve under-insured families in Atlantic
City.
An active participant in community and professional organizations,
Bruce is a volunteer with Tri-County SCORE, Rotary International, the
South Jersey African American Chamber of Commerce, The Atlantic County
Surrogate Advisory Commission, the Atlantic County Public Health
Emergency Response Team, and the Atlantic County Human Services
Advisory Commission.
Bruce’s local and grassroots involvement is noted by his pro-bono
legal service to the Westside Neighborhood Protective Association,
Inc., where he also edited “Westside Windows”
Newsletters. Upon moving to the First Ward, Bruce joined the
First Ward Civic Association where he serves as editor for the
“Inlet Happenings” Newsletter.
Bruce maintains a solo law practice focusing primarily on transactional
matters in healthcare, elder law, real estate and small business
development.
