Steven L. Moore

Steven L. Moore, was elected as Third Ward City Councilmember in 2007.

Councilmember Moore is dedicated to his city and community and brings a diversified professional background to public service.  His employment history includes housing advocacy, counseling and social work   He also served as a Senior Mortgage Analyst for the City of New York’s Department of Housing Preservation & Development.  In this capacity he was directly responsible for underwriting and processing leveraged housing rehabilitation loans financed through government and private funding sources.  Upon returning to Atlantic City Steven was employed as a case manager at Covenant House.

Councilmember Moore is a member of the Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP, elected to the Branch Executive Committee and is Branch Chair of the Education Committee.  He was also elected to the New Jersey State Conference NAACP Executive Committee and served on the State Conference Education Committee.  He has served on the New Jersey Superior Court Special Advocate Program and the Child Placement Review Committee.  Mr. Moore is a member of the Title 1 Male, Inc. Committee of the Atlantic City Board of Education.

As a member of First Baptist Church of Atlantic City, Councilmember Moore has served as a Trustee, taught Sunday school and participated in the summer Vacation Bible School.

Councilmember Moore was born and raised on the Westside of Atlantic City and attended Jethro Memorial Presbyterian Church.  He was educated in the Atlantic City public school system and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1961.  He then entered Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  Mr. Moore was later elected to the Bloomfield College Board of Trustees where he served for five years.

Mr. Moore is proud of and dedicated to his family: his father Lloyd, brother Michael and sister Kathy Gallagher.  He is also blessed with one niece, two nephews, three great nieces and two great nephews.  Councilmember Moore even goes roller skating every Saturday.
