Community Health Services and Health Education:

This Division provides health education services to the community via presentations to agencies, schools, churches and other locations as requested.  Health Educators also disseminate literature and educate participants at health fairs.

We also participate in and plan numerous health fairs at various locations throughout the community.  We offer free health screenings for glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and body fat composition.  Referrals are also made to the health providers as needed.  Health information and literature is disseminated at all of our events.  We also give away incentive items to the community to promote better health.  We work with other agencies that provide information regarding their services and/or screenings such as vision and hearing screenings and body mass index.

We coordinate the Charles A. Smith Wellness Program for the employees of the City.  Workshops on numerous topics are provided along with the screenings and literature.  This program serves to provide education to encourage prevention and improve well being.
