This office receives and processes relevant paperwork for employees of
the City of Atlantic City, including physicals, background checks,
leave and return to work requests. Working in conjunction with
the New Jersey Department of Personnel, this office helps manage
personnel matters such as certifications, promotions, transfers,
demotions, dismissals, disciplinary and grievances. Job vacancy
announcements are processed and posted.

The Affirmative Action Office is responsible for overseeing the
implementation and compliance of the City’s Affirmative
Action/Equal Employment Opportunity plan. Allegations of harassment and
discriminatory practices are investigated. This office also has a
certification program for the Minority and Women Business Enterprise
(MWBE). The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures
compliance with Title I Employment and Title III Public
Accommodations. This section acts as a liaison for the
National Organization for the Disabled (NOD).

The Health Benefits Office offers hospitalization and medical insurance
for the employees of the City of Atlantic City. Plans offered
include, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey (City’s
Self-Insured Plan); Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) -
AETNA US Healthcare; Horizon HMO Blue and Amerihealth. The
City also offers a vision plan, dental plan and prescription plan

This office is responsible for the enrollment and transferring of
eligible employees to the Public Employees’ Pension
System. Employees are educated on the mandatory pension
process. Employees are provided with the necessary forms
according to their need, examples include; enrollment, designation of
beneficiary, request to purchase service credit and retirement forms
(regular service, deferred, disability). This office also handles
certification of service and final salaries for retirees and those
withdrawing from the pension system assuring correct accounting of
employees’ contributions.

Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program is a voluntary/confidential
program designed to assist employees who are having personal problems
that are affecting their job performance and/or personal life.
The program is offered to employees and their family members. For

Atlantic City Municipal Alliance
The Atlantic City Municipal Alliance Program is a city wide program for
the prevention and education of drugs and alcohol. The Alliance
