Greetings from Mayor Scott K. Evans

On behalf of my city council colleagues and our residents, I am pleased to welcome you to the official government Web site of the City of Atlantic City. It is our sincere desire that you find this site interesting, informative and helpful, and that it may inspire you to visit this exciting seaside resort or to come here to work, live and/or invest in our community as it continues to experience meteoric economic growth. Of course, this site is also intended as a valuable means of communication with our local citizenry on whose behalf this administration is diligently working to insure a high quality of life through the provision of community services and fiscal responsibility.

Atlantic City today is experiencing monumental economic vitality. Over $10 billion of investment in new mega-casinos have been announced recently not including the addition of towers to three of the existing casino properties, all of which are nearing completion. Upscale entertainment, dining, nightclubs and shopping venues are proliferating both in and outside of the casinos. The Walk Outlets, a large complex of factory outlets, continue to add dozens of new name brand stores. There have been themed attractions added to the casinos such as the Quarter at Tropicana and the Pier at Caesars. Beach bars have livened up the summer beach scene with great music. Of course, the Boardwalk, beaches, marinas, festivals and other Atlantic City mainstays continue to be highly popular as well.

It is also becoming increasingly easier to get to our great city. In recent years the Atlantic City International Airport has experienced considerable growth, adding destinations and flights. There have also been significant road improvements in recent years to the major highways leading to the city and on roads within the city itself – including the Atlantic City Brigantine Connector which can whisk drivers from the Atlantic City Expressway to the Marina District and other parts of the city. Trains and buses also offer convenient ways to get here. Future plans include an express train between New York City and Atlantic City.

Truly these are exciting times in Atlantic City, a city alternately known as “The World’s Playground”, “the Queen of Resorts” and a “City Always Turned On”. We feel it’s all of those things and more. But come see for yourself. The red carpet is waiting for you.
