Information
The department's mission and responsibilities include:

Manages the Capital Improvement Bond Funds.

Manages Capital Improvement construction projects and
renovation projects.
-
Prepares plans and specifications for Capital
Improvement construction and renovation projects.
-
Represents capital improvement construction projects
to City Council.
-
Performs surveying and construction layout duties on
various City projects.
-
Provides technical support for all Divisions within
Public Works.
-
Reviews, approves and issues Boardwalk Vehicle Access
Permits.
-
Reviews, approves and issues Street Opening Permits.
-
Maintains and updates Tax Maps.
-
Maintains and updates the City’s Geographical
Information System (G.I.S.)
-
Maintains records of abstract deeds within City
Boundaries.
-
Provides research assistance for property searches
and history.
-
Maintains and updates City’s computerized deed
tracking data and transactions.
-
Reviews and provides recommendations for approval of
applications to the Planning and Zoning Boards.
-
Reviews and approves Treatment Works Applications,
Traffic Signal Modifications, Minor and Major Subdivisions.
-
Manages City’s traffic circulation and intersections.
-
Provides Flood Insurance Rate Map information to
various governmental agencies and residence.
-
Provides affidavits, court depositions, and expert
testimony, on the City’s behalf on various claims and lawsuits
against the City.
-
Documents and reports all accidental sanitary
sewerage spills and discharges.
-
Manages Brownfields remediation for City properties.
-
Manages Bader Field Airport.
-
Liaison for City with various Federal, State and
County Agencies.
-
Provides a variety mapped information to various
government agencies and to the general public.
-
Provides printing services for most City Departments.
-
Provides printed business cards, envelopes and
stationary to all City Departments.
-
Pursues grants and loans from various governmental
funding sources for City construction and improvement
projects.
-
Investigates and report on accidents pursuant to
requests from City Solicitor’s Office.
-
Inspects and provides direction to various
contractors performing work within City’s right-of-way.
-
Creates, assigns and issues street addresses to newly
created properties and subdivisions.
-
Creates, assigns and issues Lot and Block numbers to
newly created properties and subdivisions.
-
Performs consolidations of Lots.
-
Assists solicitor’s office in the preparation of
ordinances for Street Vacations, R.O.W. easements, new traffic
patterns, air rights, etc.
-
Provides utility markout service for City owned
underground utilities to private engineers and contractors.
-
Manages City surveying control monuments and
information.
-
