The Tax Collector Division is responsible for the preparation and sending of the real estate tax bills. This Division also has the responsibility of the receipt, recording and depositing of all real estate tax payments made to the City, the County, the School Board, Municipal Library and the Open Space Act. These tax collections total over two hundred million dollars annually. The Tax Collector coordinates all tax lien sales and helps in the foreclosure of properties, which are delinquent in payment of their real estate taxes.

Property taxes are due on February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying taxes or the interest due on delinquent taxes. There is a 10(calendar) day grace period. The State of New Jersey does not permit postmark, taxes must be received in the office on or before the 10th however, if the 10th falls on a weekend or legal holiday, you have until the next business day to make payment.
Any delinquencies as of Nov. 10 will be subject to an accelerated tax sale. The accelerated tax sale is held annually in December Any payment received after Nov. 10 must be in the form of guaranteed funds.
