Protect Yourself From Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID – 19)
Older adults and people who have severe underlying
chronic medical conditions like heart and lung disease or diabetes seem to be
at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19.
- Know
How It Spreads and Symptoms - It’s
presently being spread from person to person, people who are close contact with
each other (sick to well). It’s recommended to keep at least 6 feet apart. - It’s
passed through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or
sneezes. - When
the droplets lands on our hands then transferred to the mouth, nose, and eyes
is the pathways to infection along with touching surfaces like door knobs,
faucet handles, counter top surfaces, and etc. that may have been contaminated
with COVID – 19. - Flu
like symptoms; fever, coughing, sneezing and shortness of breath. - Symptoms
may take 2 to 14 days to produce illness.
2. Take Steps To Protect
Yourself
- Clean
your hands often. Wash with soap and water, vigorously wash on and between your
fingers, thumbs, and your wrists. Wash for at least 20 seconds, and especially
after coughing, sneezing, and blowing your nose. - The
use of sanitizer is recommended, make sure it has at least 60% alcohol. Read
the label. - Avoid
touching your face with your hands
3. Avoid Close Contact

important to keep away from sick people. - Avoid
gathering events of 50 or more people per CDC.

you are SICK, stay home, call your doctor and or your medical provider. They
will give you instructions on what to do. HOW EVER IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN
EXTREME RESPATORY DISTRESS, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. - It’s
a good idea to have some over the counter fever reducing medication (Tylenol,
Aspirin, Ibuprofen), and plenty of fluids. - Cover
Coughs and Sneezes with your inner arm or use tissues and handkerchiefs. Throw
used tissues into the trash and do not hold them in your hands. - Wash
your hands immediately, Soap and Water. Use sanitizer if not close to a hand

and disinfect as often as you can within your home and work space; door knobs,
sink faucet handles, counter tops, cell phones, computer key boards. Focus on
area in which you touch with your hands. - You
can find EPA recommended disinfectants at your local supermarket, warehouse
stores, and hardware stores.
Lastly masks are you’re the sick, well people who wear masks tend to touch their face often trying to get it to fit correctly.
