The Office of Emergency Management and Emergency Services is responsible for coordinating responses to natural disasters, technological emergencies and severe weather emergencies in the City of Atlantic City. The office works closely with County, State and Federal Emergency Management Organizations to ensure a rapid, well coordinated response to emergencies and to avoid unnecessary duplications of service.
During times of severe emergencies or disasters the office activates the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) which is located in a hurricane proof wing of the AtlantiCare Medical Center.
The Office of Emergency Management and Emergency Services continually develops and revises Atlantic City’s Emergency Operations Plan to address the potential threats to the City.
We use what is called an “all hazards” approach to emergency planning. This allows us to inventory and maintain the necessary resources to best meet the needs of any challenge we are faced with.
The Office coordinates with all first responders in the City to ensure safe and efficient emergency operations; trains all Critical Infrastructures in developing EOP (Emergency Operations Plans) such as Casinos, Hospital, Nursing Homes, Schools, Hotels, Utilities and other High rise Buildings; coordinates Special events Air Show, Concerts and Major Entertainment venues such as Marathon, Triathlon and many parades.
